2018

August 18th, 2018 (Neshanic Valley - Ridge/Lake)

Dave Ellis wins by 2 ( despite a 10 on one hole) over Dave Perry who came alive on the back nine. Country Club Larry insisted we play LCP, when even with the overnight rain there was no need to do so, quote "we should play LCP all the time". Greens were recently aerated giving some players fits, notice the high beer line, and abundance of equities. The final group took 29 of the total 51 in equities, and still managed to stay right on top off the group in front of them. In match play Petronchak and Rinaldi tied in a tightly contested but poorly played match.

August 11th, 2018 (Quail Brook-World Series #4)

It certainly didn't look good Saturday morning, a hard, steady rain.  Would another World Series be postponed?  The group dwindled down to thirteen and last to show up was Bob Babetski.  The Commissioner made the decision and World Series #4 was on.  Thirteen of us played in virtually no rain and very pleasant conditions.  Bob showed up last but finished first.  He had all pars and only two bogies on the front and finished with a Net 29.  He finished the back with a Net 38 for a Net 67 winning by one stoke.  It will be Bob's 9th World Series appearance.  More to follow from the Commissioner on World Series.

Other Notables:
Bob also tied Net Birdies (8), Greenies (3), Sandies (1).
Jim Petronchak won the Birdie pot (4) and was in the Greenies and Gross Par 3 (13) .
In Match play Commissioner Cavallo beat Mark Schuler 7 & 6.

August 9th, 2018 (Rochester,NH)

Min Minutello came out blazing with a net 31 on the front 9 and held on to win by 2 shots with Net 69. Doug Conway played steadier than the previous day to finish 2nd for the day and overall in the 4 day tournament.  Luke Wolters won the 4 Day Up Yours North Tournament with a Net 290...8 shots better than Doug.  It was a great trip,,,other than the 90 degree heat and 90% humidity

August 8th, 2018 (Dunegrass, ME)

Luke Wolters figured out that he only needed to hit irons off of most tees and kept the ball in play to shoot Net 68 and win by 5 shots.  Larry made 2 birdies by hitting 2 par 3's to 18 inches…but finished 8-4-8 to finish 2nd.  Larry won most of the pots.  The local host made 8-10 on consectutive holes to drop out of contention.  Luke has a 13 shot lead in the 4 day tournament with 1 day to go.  Mike Rolph hit 2 amazing 3 woods to reach the fringe of the par 5 12th hole.  His Eagle putt just missed the hole.

August 7th, 2018 (Links at Outlook, ME)

Another stifling, humid 90s day.  The golf course is extremely interesting.  Front 9 is links style and wide open,  Back 9 has huge elevation changes in the woods.  Doug Conway played steadily to win by 5 shots.  Min had a Johnny (51-37).  Interestingly, Min had gross scores from 3 to 10 on his scorecard...but Larry Thiry beat him by having 3 to 11 on his card.

August 6th, 2018 (Rochester, NH)

There was stifling heat and humidity in New Hampshire for the start of the 5th Annual Up Yours North Tournament.  Luke Wolters opened his round by hitting his drive OB…then hit his 4th shot OB over the green and over a house…made a 9…then lapped the field to win by 6 shots.

August 4th, 2018 (SunEagles)

Three DGA'ers played SunEagles course in Monmouth County for the first time,on a humid and soggy afternoon with sporadic showers.  Half of the holes were "cart path only" with frequent scattered puddles.  Despite the wet conditions, FT-DGA "romped" by 2 shots.  The course is under new management and we were told some moderate improvements were made with more to come.

August 4th, 2018 (Quail Brook)

The rain finally stopped and thanks to the magic that is Mark Schuler, we got a last minute tee time at Quail.  Some soggy spots but overall the course drained well and the greens were forgiving.  Petronchak struggles a bit on the back nine but holds on to win by 6 over Mr. Connors.  Charlie claims to have never made a Net Eagle and then proceeds to make 2.

August 2nd, 2018 (Quail Brook)

DGA round by chance as the necessary 3rd player just did a walk on. Petronchak plays steady golf, Minutello comes on strong on the back nine and Onka? Well what can be said?
