DGA a NJ Golf Club

December 31, 2016 (Spooky Brook)

Last round of the DGA 2016 season- started with frozen greens, softened as we played making shot selection tough. Jim Petronchak and Dennis Grote tie for first with Mr. Winter Bob Babetski 4 behind. Highlites of the day - Dave Perry almost hitting himself with a missed 2 foot putt - best flimch ever, and Mr. Rapp in his first appearance as a HOFer contributing to DGA lore with the shortest drive ever, estimated at negative 100 yards, details and pictures to follow. Thank you Bruce in advance, for being such a good sport.

December 23, 2016 (Beacon Hill)

Larry Thiry again graciously hosted a day at his club, and uses home court advantage to win by 1 over newly inducted HOF member Bob Babetski. Bob was not shy about reminding everyone of his new status(ie first tee shot as HOF, first bad chip, first putt etc). Thanks again Larry.

December 22, 2016 (Suneagles)

Ron Emma wins by 3 over Min. Course conditions were not great and that is a shame - solid layout with plenty of toubh approach shots. Frozen greeens to star. Min makes 3 sandys - 1 with about a 65 yard shot over another bunker to about 2 feet.

December 20, 2016 (Beacon Hill)

A great December day to play golf - Jim P and Mike were guests of Larry T. Jim P avoids a total meltdown on the last hole with an great 5 to win by 2. A lot of frozen greens and bunkers. Larry would have won easily except for a couple of challenges in bunkers. Junk was very hard to come as the greens were a bit bumpy and the speed varied quite a bit. Mike had a "good" Johnny.

December 10, 2016 (Quail Brook)

Brisk winter day with sun and a light breeze - not nearly as cold as predicted. Frozen greens and fairways until the back side made for some interesting shots. Mr. winter Babo wins as usual but only by 1 shot over Mansour. We played skins as a fivesome and Mike Jeffries salvaged his day by winning a 10 skin carryover on 17.

December 8, 2016 (Greenacres)

Frost delay, damp course, tree lined with tricky greens. Three players (half the field) tied for first. Bottom 2 played like they were new to the game.

December 3, 2016 (Quail Brook)

Course was in great shape, smooth, very fast greens, plenty of ovulations as the wind picked up throughout the day. Jim Rinaldi plays steady, driving the ball very well for a 2 shot victory over Jim Petronchak. Small field - not sure if it was the weather or the aging of the DGA, probably both. On the plus side Frank Thiry returns from a back issue and plays relatively pain free- welcome back.

December 1, 2016 (Suburban)

Min masters the wet conditions for an easy 6 stroke win over Ron Emma. Sunny and nice to start - cloudy and very windy the last 5 or 6 holes.
