2018

June 2, 2018 (Warrenbrook)

Warrenbrook played tough, a big overnight storm left soft, muddy conditions, lots of casual water and slow greens. The first groups gave no thought to lift, clean, and place so we played on and  the scores showed it. Mark Schuler was the only player to break the 70's mark and 76 was the beer line. In partners matches  Rapp and Grote defeated Connors and Rismanchi plus 3. The Thiry brothers won over Schuler/Perry in a match of cards. One of our new members, Tom Onka played his first official round, finishes in a tie for 3rd and walks away with piece of almost every pot and the most money. Congrats Tom.

June 7, 2018 (Flanders Gold/Red)

Jim Petro eagles # 11. Wants to change his vote that eveyone pays for eagles not just the ppl playing that day.   Rapp rides a net 30 on the back to win by four.  Second win since 1999.  Course was in great shape.

June 9, 2018 (Spooky Brook)

The 2nd World Series Saturday was a beautiful summer Saturday.  Spooky was in great shape and many players went low.  Andrew Keller and Tom Onka both shot Net 62 to qualify for World Series.  Andrew shot Net 29 on the front to tie infrequent visitor, Doug Conway, who played out of his mind until finishing with a 9 on the 18th hole.   Doug had 14 Net Birdies from his 15 handicap shots to nip out John Rutigliano (13), Andrew (12) and Tom (11).  In Match Play, Jim Petronchak defeated Mike Jeffries 2 & 1....and made 2 birdies on top of Mike's 2 birdies on 8 and 10 to halve the holes.  In Partners, Andrew and Bob Keller "upset" the Bobbies +3. Greg Cavallo and Ed Korleski defeated Mansour Rismanchi and Charlie Connors by the same score.

June 14, 2018 (Neshanic Valley Ridge/Meadow)

Greg Cavallo masters the wind to take a 1 stroke victory over Rapp and Petro. Conditions were tough- 20+MPH winds, tough rough, firm greens, high fescue, and many lost golf balls. Long round for most, many searches. In match play Greg defeats Dave 4 &2.

June 16, 2018 (Green Knoll)

Well, it wasn't the winds of Shinnecock Hills, but Green Knoll played tougher than expected.  Ron Ceglia, Jr. was the only player to shoot even par or better and wins with net 71 to edge out his match opponent Mansour and our visitor from Arizona by one shot.
Three of the 4 matches were close throughout the rounds:  Ron Jr. won the 17th and 18th holes to tie his match vs. Mansour and setup a replay.  The most exciting match was between Jim Petronchak and Jay Griffith.  Neither player had more than a 1 Up lead and it took 4 extra holes for Jim to move on in match play.  Rich Fitzgerald and Min played a close match with Fitz holding on for a 2 Up win and Ed Korleski bested David Ellis 6 & 5.

June 23, 2018 (Neshanic Valley R/L)

On his last day before heading back to Arizona, Ron Ceglia Sr. wins by 3 shots over Min and Yusko.   He walks away with 3 Sandy's on the day, probably due to the fact he lives in the Desert!  In Partners Match, Griffith/Smoot defeat Ceglia Jr./Fitzgerald +5

June 24, 2018 (Sunset Valley)

Ron Ceglia Jr. shoots a consistent 36-36 for the Win over Korleski and Rapp at Sunset Valley.  Ron hit 5 Iron off most of the Tee Boxes.  Realizing he had a big lead, he broke out the Driver on #16, which he promptly snap hooked and lost the ball.  Bruce says he's quitting golf.  Think it's the 3rd time this year he's made that statement.

June 27, 2018 (Shackamaxon)

Jay hosted the group at his home club- thanks Jay- Shack was a tough test -great shape and a  fun, challenging layout.  Course was  hilly, with firm sloping greens, lots of trees and bunkers , thick rough, and some very tough par 3s.  First timers Mark and Jim played to a tie, had to be beginners luck. Despite difficulties we managed to play in about 3 1/2 hours.

June 30, 2018 (Quail Brook)

Quail Brook was baking in the sun and scoring was better.  Tom Onka rode a hot back 9 even par 36 (2 birdies and 2 bogeys) for a net 30 to beat Dan Price by 1 stroke.  Dan winds up taking the money honors with the F9 nassau and a couple of pots.
In match play, Mansour bested Ron Ceglia, Jr 4 & 3.
