DGA a NJ Golf Club

May 3, 2018 (Green Knoll)

Warm, windy day at Green Knoll.  Reese shoots a steady 36-35-71 for a 3 stroke win over Bruce.  Reese also won his individual match, 1up, againist Bruce in a tightly contested match.   Dennis (I'll never ever have a super hole) rides his 20 handicap to a T3 finish, but the real story for Dennis is how he avoided what could have been a really diasterous day. Walking down the rough left of the 1st fairway, an errant tee shot from the 2nd tee  glances his head  and  smacks his shoulder directly. An inch or two difference, and who knows.

May 5, 2018 (Warrenbrook)

The good news is no one was hit by a ball this week.  The bad news is fast greens contributed to 41 DGA equities. Rapp wins by 4 to get his first win since 1999.  Dennis is on the mend and Minny failed the weekly CoCo fashion test with an illegal belt.

May 10, 2018 (Quail Brook)

Jim Rinaldi pulls out a putter from the basement and rides an even par front nine, net 31 to a 3 stroke win over JRut.   Nice Shooting Jim.  JRut shows up tardy.  So we were a foursome for the first hole and then a three some and a twosome. Not sure if John played the first hole yet. Dave Perry almost drives # 9. Weather was perfect (Babo), No Rain (Babo).

May 12, 2018 (Green Knoll - World Series #1)

It was another year of rain on World Series Day #1 but we played on this year.  It certainly appeared the first group had the secret formula with 3 of them taking the top three spots.  Dave Perry came away with the top honor with a Net 65 and secured the first World Series spot and with that will have no need to worry about how to get WS points this year (more to come from the World Series Commissioner).  Dave shot an impressive Net 30 on the front and followed up with Net 35 on the back which included a 10 on 18.  He won the front and was in the Birdie pot and won the Net Birdie pot with 13.  A notable mention to Dennis Grote and Bob Babetski in Dave’s foursome, finishing with Net 66’s. Both shooting Net 31 on the front. Congratulations Dave, our first World Series qualifier.

Other Notables – There were 3 Johnny’s – John Rutigliano 43-31, John DeSimone 47-35 and Mark Schuler 49-39. One Super Johnny, Andrew Keller 46-30 and a rare Desi, Rich Fitzgerald shot Net 68 on the front and followed it up with a Net 41 on the back.  Andrew Keller won the back with Net 30 and John Rutigliano finished second with Net 31.

John Rutigliano and Dan Price defeated Ron Ceglia Jr and Rich Fitzgerald in Partner +5.  The match was sealed on 17 when Dan Price chipped in from 40 yards for a birdie.

This was Charlie Connors sixth round and has completed his qualifying rounds.  More to come on that.

May 17, 2018 (Neshanic Valley)

We felt lucky to get a window of no rain to get this round in.  Neshanic was a little wet, and we played under a 'cart path only' restriction.  Dan Price rides a hot putter and shoots a steady 33-33-66 for a one stoke lead over Jim Rinaldi.

May 19, 2018 (Quail Brook)

Four brave (crazy) guys decided to brave the rain, wind and cold conditions at Quail on Saturday as the rest of us waved goodbye…even the member who showed up in shorts!  Bob Keller, who provided the results and narrative, showed up 4 hours later to pick up Andrew.  There were only 3 cars in the parking lot...which were the 3 other DGA players...even the employees had gone home.  Mansour won by 2 shots over Charlie.  Andrew (rookie) defeated Dan Price (veteran) 3 & 1 for the win in his 1st ever Match Play match.

May 24, 2018 (Neshanic Valley)

Narrative from Bob Keller:  Four DGAers decided to play Neshanic Valley on a beautiful Spring afternoon.  Temps in the 80's with a slight bit of humidity.  The course was in excellent shape, although the rough took its toll on everyone.

May 26, 2018 (Neshanic Valley)

Our newest member Mr. Connors shoots a fairly steady round and ties with Mr. Smoot for first place. Matt's game appears to be coming around. The course was in fine shape with some deep rough  making missing greens and fairways costly. The only thing tougher than the rough was figuring out the scorecards to produce the results.
