October 29, 2016 (Quail Brook)
This was the last Handicap round in NJ for the year and Bob Babetski has stated he won't be playing this winter. Babo shot a Net 65 for a four stroke victory over Rinaldi. Babo also won The Match Play finals over Nowark. Babo was 2 UP at the turn and then par'd the first 7 holes on the back to win the Match 6 & 4. Nowark struggled from the Bunkers with his putter, at one point double hitting a shot.
Four guys played fox hollow in cold windy conditions. Course was in great shape except for the occasional leaves on greens. Reese Evans nips Ron Emma by one stroke.
October 22, 2016 (Green Knoll)
Cold and wind, rain and wind on back 9 but not too bad. Dennis Grote romps with Net 62. He wins Front, Back and a piece of all pots. He said that he got a tip from Schuler, we think that he is not a lefty. The Bobbies decide to wait until next week for the Match Play Final.
October 20, 2016 (Brooklake CC)
Thanks to Reese - 4 DGA members got to play Booklake CC with its very challenging greens and rough. Ron Emma won almost all the pots to win by 4 shots.
October 15, 2016 (Quail Brook)
Mike Jeffries starts fast with birdies on the first 2 holes and hangs on for a 2 shot win over Dennis Grote. Dennis had 4 greens and won the par 3 gross and net pots. Prospective member Mike Kukoff putts for eagle on the 6th (25 feet) and the 14th (6 feet) - just missing both puts by inches.
Reese wins by 1 shot over Mike Jeffries on a perfect weather day. We had to jump ahead of several very slow groups to finish. We played 12 then 17 and 18 then back to 13 to 16 in order to finish before dark.
October 8, 2016 (Spooky Brook)
Dan Price nipped Mike Kukoff by 2 shots at Spooky Brook. The last group (Price, Rismanchi, Yusko) won almost all the pots.
October 8, 2016 (Innisbrook - Copperhead)
A small contigent decided to play on the last Saturday of the Fall Classic trip. Ron Ceglia Sr played steadily after a 1st hole 8 to win by 2 shots over Mike Rolph. Five of the 6 DGA Players made 1 Sandy.
October 7, 2016 (Innisbrook - Island)
The South ends a 4 year losing streak by defeating the North.
October 6, 2016 (Innisbrook - Copperhead)
Mark Schuler and Dave Perry tied for 1st. Both made a valiant effort to catch Bob Nowark in the Fall Classic but Bob parred the 18th hole for a 2 shot win in the tournament. Bob Nowark had a Super Johnny (48-32).
October 5, 2016 (Innisbrook - Copperhead)
On another good weather day at Innisbrook, the Fall Classic switched to the newly rebuilt Copperhead course. The changes were subtle…better drainage in the fairways so that there are no low areas that never dried in the past and rebuilt greens that were flattened in places. The course was in great shape! Ron Ceglia Sr made "every putt he needed" for a 2 shot win over Bob Nowark. Bob leads the Fall Classic by 7 shots over non-DGA member, Tom Kimberly as we enter the final round on Thursday. The rest of the top 5 is Luke Wolters, Mark Schuler and Dave Perry. Also, the Partners Final was played today and the Bobbies (Babetski and Nowark) won the championship for the 7th time. Congratulations to the Bobbies!
Four guys played Fox hollow today and there was something strange in the air as everyone struggled at one point - some more than others. Reese Evans played the best and had an easy 9 shot win.
October 4, 2016 (Innisbrook - North)
We played the North Course for the 2nd day in a row…and scores were much worse except for a few players. You would think that we would have learned to avoid some of the problems. Nope! In fact there were many stories of disasterous holes…like a low handicap player making a 13 on the short par 4 fifth hole...and a high handicap player making an 11 on the same hole after "admiring" is iron shot over the water only to see it spalsh. John Rutigliano and Luke Wolters played great back 9's to win and place 3rd respectively. Three Johnnys were recorded (Rutigliano, Wolters and Cavallo). Bob Nowark holds a 3 shot lead in the Fall Classic after 2 rounds.
October 3, 2016 (Innisbrook - North)
Bob Nowark felt "comfortable" on the North Course and romped to a 5 stroke win over Dave Perry and Mark Schuler for the 1st day lead in the Fall Classic.
October 2, 2016 (Innisbrook - Island)
Beautiful weather again…although humid. The teams of Doug Conway/Greg Cavallo and Mike Rolph/Bob Babetski tied for 1st with Net 67's. Bruce Rapp made sandys on 8 and 9 to help his partner, Mark Schuler. Jim Petronchak had to bow out of today's event due to a bad back...so Ed (Human ATM) Korleski stepped in to take 2 Partners.
October 2, 2016 (The Cliffs - Valley)
On the last day of the three day tournament, Ron Emma shot a net 76 for a 7 shot win in DGA and a two shot win in the three day tournament. It was a tight finish between Mike Jeffries and Ron as Ron tripled the 17th hole after not finding his drive. Then on the 18th hole Mike Jeffries’ chip or chunk almost holed out. Ron chipped onto the green from a tough lie and made his putt for par and Mike missed his par putt. If the putts were reversed, it would have been a tie. The trip to the Cliffs was a tremendous success as the courses were great and Des and Joe and their families were great hosts. The DGA will be back!
October 1, 2016 (Innisbrook - South)
A hot sunny day to kick off the Fall Classic Trip. Babo shoots his load….just for DGA….let's see what happens from here on. The greens were very slow and bumpy.
On a cloudy overcast day with a threat of rain all day, Mansour Rismanchi plays steady for a 3 shot win.
October 1, 2016 (The Cliffs at Walnut Grove)
Ron Emma Started out quickly and held on for an 8 shot win. Everyone struggled on this course as these greens were half as fast as the last two days. Great course though. Pot wins were crazy low…1 bird, 4 net birds, etc.
