DGA a NJ Golf Club
Mike beats Min the Magnificent by one shot on a very windy and warm day to end the regular season in the Caliendo League - Championship is next week. Junk was very hard to get despite multiple opportunities for sandy's and some reasonable looks for birdie.
On a day when we had 3 seasons - winter, spring and fall - Dennis shoots a stellar 68 in windy conditions with some quick rain showers mixed in to win by 1 over Min the Magnificent. Min was red hot on the front with a 31 but faded on the back. In an oddity - everyone had a sandy except George.
JP wins by 1 over JR despite declaring after taking a triple on the second hole that "I just ruined my round" - he also took a 9 on the par 4 7th and did something on the last hole none of us remember seeing. He was chipping just short of the green - hits a nice shot that hits squarely on a sprinkler head and bounces dead right - ends up making 5 but that cost him a tie on the back. Started out sunny and pleasant but got cloudy and cold with a 20 MPH wind that made it freezing by the last couple of holes. All in all a great day - this is what makes the DGA great - playing a competitive round with friends you know, like and trust.
Beautiful March day. Warm but not windy. Jim Rinaldi went back to using an old putter and made everything.
Great late winter day - temps in the low 70s. Course was very wet and the scores were dreadful as each of ran into issues on the greens - many 3 putts - some from inside 2 feet. Petro was magic on the greens on the front and then came the back. "Everything I made on the front didn't go in on the back." Bunkers have not been groomed so thankfully we could lift clean and place. 2 Johnny's Petro and Dave. BTW Mike did win by one shot - that was the highlight of his round. Could be the least money every won for a win. Plus Petro and MJ did win $1 in the match.
Rick wins by 3 on a course that many of the Caliendo members shot well - just not us. We were fortunate to play due to the snow the day before but it melted in time and it was a pleasant late winter day. Basically, there were no real highlights with these scores!
Mike makes a sandy par on 18 to win the sandy pot and nip Min the magnificent and Jay by one shot. Jay left his birdie put on the lip on 18. Rick wins 4 pots outright. Greens were fast especially at the beginning when they were frozen. Nice winter day with little or no wind. Overcast most of the day.
Min prevails despite a 13 on our 2nd hole to win by 2 over Mike. Sunny and windy with temps in the middle 40s. This course is difficult without the wind with very deep bunkers around every green. Many elephants buried in these greens and they gave the field a break with many of the pin positions otherwise breaking net 80 would have been a miracle. Highlight of the day - JR putts in a 65 foot birdie from off the green on our last hole to win our second 9 and the birdie pot.
