DGA a NJ Golf Club
Reese nips Mike by one shot on a cloudy windy day that was colder than expected. Bruce has a hot start with 2 birdies on the first 7 holes and wins the second most money. Dave has an adventure courtesy of the bricks on number 6.
Bruce wins by 2 over Petro with a steady front and back. 4 pots were won outright while more than half the field has one birdie. Even though the temps were close to 60 very cloudy and just enough wind to make it feel cold especially on the back nine. This was the first FATT tournament in probably 5 years or more. Congrats to Min for winning closest to the pin on the 4th hole on Ridge nice payday at $5 per man. Thanks to Ron JR for suggesting it and bringing the tape measure.
Mike and Rick tie with net 72s on a great weather day for late November - near 50 and light winds. The greens were very fast and many puts rolled out. Some of the pin positions made it impossible to stop the ball if you were above the cup. Ron plays 16 great holes and 2 awful holes otherwise probably would have won.
Warm November day on the front nine, chilly, civil political discussion over a couple of beverages in the parking lot. Dave Perry rides a sizzling back nine (net 30) to catch Jim Rinaldi and tie for first with 69s. Dave wins net birds and a piece of the net eagle and birdie pot. Charlie, a member of the final four AND the first group. Another great accomplishment second only to the GOY.
Rick shoots a stellar 69 on a tough scoring day for most of the field. The course played long if you were in the rough and the greens are very tricky if you were in the wrong spot. Strange day with no birdies, sandys or net eagles.
Nice November day to start until the wind picked up on the second half of the back nine. Played in less than four hours. Bob "handicap season is over" (Chapter 7) Babetski shows up for a mid-week round and ties Billy Bylina with 69 to win by one over Jim Rinaldi. Time for a special consideration handicap adjustment. JimR also brought hot chocolate instead of cold beer for after the round (jk).
As we say goodbye to New Jersey's 2020 Handicap season, Bruce Rapp shoots Net 70 for a 1 stroke win over Jim Petronchak. Reese Evans comes in 3rd, but wins the most money. In the Match Play Final, Bob Babetski defeats Andrew Keller 2 & 1. More on that coming from the Commissioner.
Jim P shoots a stellar 66 for a 3 shot win over Mike. JP had 4 birdies and won the net birdie and net eagle pots. A picture perfect November day - 75 and sunny. Course was in great shape and the greens were fast. Shot of the day - Billy puts his tee shot on #4 about 85 feet from the hole - Mike says you have to validate the match green with a par - Billy does one better and holes it for a 2!
A warm sunny day in Novemeber for DGA golf. It wasn't pretty with not a single score under par. Reese Evans comes in first for the second time this week. He shoots a net 73 and finishes one stroke ahead of Bob Nowark. He also finished first on the front with a net 34. Bob Nowark also finished tied for second on the front with John Rutigliano with a net 35. He was also in the net birdies with 9, net eagles with 2 and greenies with 2. Dennis Grote had a good Johnnie all due to his 12 on #4 but he managed to come in second on the back with a net 35 and tie Bob with 9 net birdies and Net 10 on the Par 3's. Bob Babetski won the back with a net 34.
Jay Grifith won the Sandies pot with 2 and Ron Emma, making a rare appearance, won the Gross Par 3's with 12.
In Match play finals, Bob Babetski and Andrew Keller finished in a tied. Bob was down 3 with 7 to go took the lead on 17 then Andrew won 18 for the tie. They will try again next week at Quail.
Lastly, a big thanks to Bob Nowark for bringing the beers for his DGA and Partners win last week. Thanks Bob.
Reese, Jim R and Bruce tie with 73s. Jim has 5 greenies - outstanding on a course with tough par 3s. Wind was more than predicted and this impacted the scores.
Cool and Breezy with thick rough and fast greens. Ceggy Jr, jumps in late to complete the foursome as the rest of the retirees play in the Caliendo Championship. Bruce shoots 33 on the back to win by 5. Jim Rinaldi gets the quote of the day after starting out triple, double, triple he says "something is amiss." He also tried a new putter today which will go back in the basement. A good day on the course.
Mike wins by 2 over Reese on a very windy day with lightening fast greens. Junk was very hard to come by. This was the finals of the 2019-2020 Caliendo season. Mike won the senior net division with his net 77 ($750) Jim P comes in 3rd and wins closest to the pin on the tough par 3 14th ($500). Jim hit it to 4'5" with an 8 iron on this 122 yard hole over water. To put the wind in perspective Mike flushed a 7 iron on the same hole and got it hole high. This was a 3 club wind day on almost every hole.
