DGA a NJ Golf Club

2015

December 30, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

In what might be the last round of 2015, 3 retirees and 1 vacationer (he did some phone work on the course) played a soggy Spooky Brook.  Junk was plentiful with 3 birdies on the 1st hole and more to come.  Bruce shoots a solid front nine but fades on the back.  Jim Petronchak finishes the year with a 3 shot win over a small field.  Happy New Year to All!

December 26, 2015 (Neshanic Valley)

In what can be best described with a quote from a classic movie "What we got here is a failure to communicate", it was that type of day for the DGA.  Mix in a no show, switching of groups, cart partner questions, 2 different post round bars, and the actual golf was incidental.  Greens were very slow and covered with dead worms making golf difficult as seen by the scoring.  Jim Petronchak overcomes a very slow start with a strong finish (actually figured out how hard to putt) to best Larry Thiry (who played the first hole without tying his shoes) by 3 strokes.  Probably one of the few county DGA rounds where no one finished in the 60's.

December 24, 2015 (Green Knoll)

Wet and WARM Christmas Eve.  Bob Babetski comes out of his slump and shows some real winter handicap golf edging the recently hot Bruce Rapp.  Babo birdies both 8 & 9 and takes most of the $.  6 of the 8 players in the red.  Dave Perry almost takes out Dave Perry twice on the last hole, fairway shot and sand shot.  He did say he was tired of playing with him.  MERRY CHRISTMAS!

December 19, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

Bruce Rapp shoots a steady 67 and wins by 2 shots over Reese Evans who makes a rare Saturday appearance.  Dave Perry narrowly avoids last place despite a lost ball from a greenside bunker - No one saw where it went.  The day was our first real taste of winter playing conditions, gloves, hats, multiple layers, wind chills in the low 30's.

December 17, 2015 (Deal Country Club)

Jim Rinaldi shoots lights out on a rainy day.  He won the Winter League event too and Min finished second.  Great shooting.

December 12, 2015 (Green Knoll)

Mike Jeffries birdies 3 of the first 4 holes on the back nine on his way to a net 28 and a 5 shot win over Mark Schuler.  Mark had 4 Birdies and 3 Greenies.  Dave Perry finished 2nd in Birdies, Greenies, Net Eagles and Sandys.

December 10, 2015 (Rock Spring)

Reese Evans nips Mike Jeffries by 1 for the Win but Mike is the BIG Winner.  A lot of stout Par 4's and bunkers on this traditional course.

December 5, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

Mike Jeffries plays steady and nips Bruce Rapp by 2.  Highlight of the round - Ron Ceglia Sr has 4 Greenies.  Dave Perry is the definition of Drive for Show - bombing it all day.

December 3, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

Mark Schuler edges Jim Petronchak by 2.  Strong winds.  Over 4 hours to play - held up by a foursome of old farts who pretended we were not right on their tail.

December 3, 2015 (Suburban)

Mike Jeffries nips Jim Rinaldi by 1 but Jim is the "big winner".  Windy and the course was wet from all the rain.  Very tough greens - small with many elevated and surrounded by bunkers.

November 28, 2015 (Quail Brook)

Dennis Grote wins again and apparently doesn't need a new winter hobby.  He nipped "Mr Par" Jim Petronchak by 1.  Ron Ceglia Sr EAGLED #10 holing out with a wedge from the fairway.

November 24, 2015 (Beacon Hill)

Played Beacon Hill on a nice fall day.  Thank you Larry for hosting.  Greens were a bit bumpy and putting was not easy.  Larry made the only birdie with a 70 yard chip-in over water.  Lowlite of the day was the 5 putt by Frank that took a while to count after all stopped laughing.

November 24, 2015 (Stanton Ridge)

Mike Jeffries continues his mini hot streak with a gross 80 and net 62.  Jay Griffith forgot his putter and putted with a hybrid and made a birdie on #2.

November 21, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

Dennis Grote plays steady golf and wins by 2 over 3 other players.  Claims it is his 1st victory of the year? (TRUE).  Mark Schuler cedes his self proclaimed best sand player in the DGA, at least for a week, to Ron Ceglia Sr who was 3 for 5 out of the sand.  Ron is more modest and only claims to be the 2nd best sand player.  Min misses shooting his age again by 1 shot.

November 18, 2015 (Green Knoll)

Not a lot of great scoring - total of 13 Net Birdies.  The self proclaimed king of sand does it again.

November 14, 2015 (Quail Brook)

Mike Jeffries rides a hot front 9 to win on a very windy day.  Most of the stories in the bar were about previous trips to Myrtle, Orlando and Scotland.

November 12, 2015 (Copper Hill)

Mike Jeffries rides a hot front nine to an easy victory (despite the Johnny) in the Winter League.  Great traditional layout in fantastic condition.  Very fast greens with a lot of undulation.  Reese Evans also had a Johnny.

November 11, 2015 (Green Knoll)

Despite waiting on most holes (for who we won't say), Ron Ceglia Sr cruises to a 4 shot victory over Mark (self proclaimed best sand player) Schuler.  Ron has his name in most of the pots.

November 7, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

It was the first Saturday of Winter Rules and it showed at Spooky Brook.  Jim Rinaldi finishes Birdie - Birdie for Net 64 and a 1 stroke victory over Jim Petronchak.  Beer line was 70 and all but 3 guys shot net par or better.  Jim Petronchak shot even par 72 Gross, Jim Rinaldi shot 1 over par 73 and Reese Evans shot 2 over par 74.

November 6, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

Frank Thiry brings his 10 super hole handicap to puppy friendly Spooky Brook and edges Ron Ceglia Sr by 1 shot.  Franks saved his 4 pars for super holes and it paid off.

November 4, 2015 (Green Knoll)

Jim Petronchak took advantage of the arctic weather (low 70s) and beat two other DGA'ers.  It took Ed Korleski 9 holes to WARM up.  Yada, yada, yada.  $20 loss in Nines.

November 3, 2015 (Royce Brook - West)

Min and Price take advantage of all the young guys.

October 31, 2015 (Quail Brook)

After an 80 minute frost delay, the DGA played the last handicap round in NJ.  Most guys probably raised their handicap for the winter, but not Rapp and Petronchak who tied with net 65's.  Petro shot a 1 under par 71 gross, but Rapp won the most money.

October 29, 2015 (Galloping Hill)

Reese Evans swept virtually everything on a challenging course for everyone else with a 135 slope and plenty of wind.

October 27, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

Schuler again played steady for a 1 shot win over Petronchak who had 21 putts on the front 9.  Jim Rinaldi wanted to know how you make a 9...hitting a greenside trap shot 50+ yards helps.

October 25, 2015 (Cliffs Mountain Park)

Another beautiful day on a Gary Player designed links course with bunkers everywhere.  Mike Jeffries started out hot but George Nolan finished red hot and won for the third straight day.

October 24, 2015 (Cliffs Glassy)

A spectacular fall day in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Extremely challenging course with many blind shots and huge changes in elevation.  The slope was 127 at 5829 yards.  George Nolan started with a 9 but avoided disaster the rest of the way to win easily.

October 24, 2015 (Green Knoll)

Three guys played boring golf.  Yada, yada, yada....Rinaldi won.

October 24, 2015 (Shoregate)

Great fall day in South Jersey, mild winds, lots of sun.  Greens were firm and very fast, course was in great shape.  Most scores were pretty bad, but Mark Schuler shoots a steady 37-37=74 to win by 3 over Ceglia Sr.  Ron Emma and friends shoot a combined 494 and get to the clubhouse and hour and a half after the group in front of them.

October 23, 2015 (Cliffs Keowee Vinyards)

A beautiful day at the Cliffs.  We all agreed that these were the fastest greens we have ever played.  A missed 2 foot putt usually rolled 5-6 feet past the hole.  The 130 slope at 6010 yards was more like 138 with the speed of the greens.  On the 6th hole, George was just short of the green and said "I can chip it on and 3 putt for my double bogey".  He did.  George won each side by 1 over Mike Jeffries.

October 23, 2015 (Stone Harbor)

Windy and cool to start.  Greens were aerated (again) and bumpy yet still quick.  Jim Petronchak played steady golf to win by 9 strokes over a small field.

October 21, 2015 (Green Knoll)

Course was in pretty good shape with greens recovered from aeration.  Schuler nips Petronchak with a steady round.

October 17, 2015 (Quail Brook)

A sunny and chilly day at Quail Brook.  Bruce Rapp was happy to be home from Tampa and shot Net 67 for a 2 shot win over Mark Schuler.  It was like a yard sale out there.  The last group found Schuler's golf towel, Griffith's range finder and a GPS unit on the course.  A (good) Johnny was recorded by Grote  (44-31).

October 15. 2015 (Green Knoll)

A great fall day to9 play although the group in front of us was sooo slow.  Mike's guest had a sandy on #1 and holed out for a birdie double sandy on #3 - he and Jim P had 10 junk enough said.

October 14, 2015 (Pelican Marsh)

Once again, the Thiry contingent raved about the course.  Frank and Larry played "lights out" and shot Net 65 and 69 respectively.

October 13, 2015 (Fiddlesticks)

The Thiry contingent loved the course....despite Frank's Net 95.  Min nips Mike by 2.

October 12, 2015 (Meditera)

The Thiry contingent gave this course an A plus.  Mike Rolph shot Net 72 for a 3 shot win.

October 10, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

Jim Rinaldi nips Mansour by one shot on a perfect fall day at Spooky - 65 and sunny

October 10, 2015 (Fall Classic Results)

The 2015 Fall Classic at Innisbrook has been completed.  Here are the results of the different events:

   Tampa 2015 Better Ball
Tampa 2015 Individual Tournament (Dave Perry, Champion)
Tampa 2015 Ryder Cup (North defeats the South again)
   Tampa 2015 Scramble

More reports available on the Members Page.

October 9, 2015 (Innisbrook - South)

Dave again!  Ed figured out :Swing Oil" aka BEER is the answer.  Ed had a Johnny (45-33) and Larry had a SuperJohnny (32-48).

October 8, 2015 (Innisbrook - Island)

Dave Perry started triple, triple....then was 1 under the next 7 holes.  His Net 68 wind by 3 over Ron Ceglia Sr.  Dave is the Fall Classic Champion with a total of 300...and a 9 shot win over Ron Ceglia Sr.

October 7, 2015 (Innisbrook - North)

Dave Perry came alive after a 9 on the 13th hole (par 5)...and finished bogey, par, birdie, birdie, par (1 under for the last 5 holes) for a Net 71 and a 5 shot win.  The downside was that his group took well over 5 hours to play and let a DGA group play through on 13!

October 6, 2015 (Innisbrook - Island)

The Island course beat us up today.  Ron Ceglia Sr won with a Net 77.  Only 6 players broke 100 GROSS!  Two Johnnys...Dave Perry (45-34) and Bruce Rapp (47-34).

October 5, 2015 (Innisbrook - North)

Even though Jim Petronchak and Doug Conway double bogeyed the last 2 holes, they were able to tie Bob Nowark for first place with Net 73.

October 4, 2015 (Innisbrook - Island)

We had rain on and off...and at times, it was a cold rain.  Scores were higher than expected for a Better Ball event.  Dennis Grote and Bob Babetski shot Net 67 for a 2 shot win.  Several funny stories but the best may have been Shane DeLeon's 1st tee shot when his club flew 40 yards down the fairway due to the wet conditions....and the Mike Rolph's drive barely got past Shane's club.

October 3, 2015 (Innisbrook - North)

The guys who arrived at Innisbrook early played the North course in the afternoon.  Dave Perry "romped" to a 3 shot win with Net 71.

October 3, 2015 (Warrenbrook)

It was Partner's Final Day at Warrenbrook since the four finalist were the only DGA members to play. It was a cold day in the 50's with an occasional mist. Dan Price and John Rutigliano squared off against Ron Ceglia Jr and Rich Fitzgerald. It was a close match as the Partners were even at the turn. By the 14th hole Ceglia Jr and Fitz had a four point lead. Price and Rutigliano took 2 points on both 15 and 16 and after 17 the match was all square. On 18 it came down to a 4 foot par putt by Rutigliano for the 2 point win.

It was Dan and John's 3rd Partner's Championship and their first since 2006. More to come from Commissioner Frank Thiry.

As far as the round, it was pretty ugly, John wins with a net 76. Fitz wins the Net Birdie pot with 6, Ron wins the Greenie pot with 1, not Net Eagles, Birdies or Sandies. Fitz wins Net Par 3's and Ron wins Gross Par 3's.

September 26, 2015 (Quail Brook)

The general feedback was that the breeze and pin positions contributed to higher than recent scores at Quail Brook.  Tom Wrobel shot Net 70 to beat 3 players by 2 shots.  In the Match PLay Finals, Ed Korleski defeated Reese Evans 3 & 1...despite two 8's and an 11...true Match Play strategy!  Congratulations, Ed!

September 25, 2015 (Quail Brook)

A very pleasant weather day at Quail Brook.  The Blue Tees were back on a lot of holes and the course played like it normally should.  A lot of ties in Pots...6 players with 1 birdie, 4 players with 1 net eagle, 5 players with 1 sandy.  Dave Perry and Mike Jeffries tied with Net 72...despite Mike having his ball hit him while trying to hit out of the back trap on #4.

September 23, 2015 (Heron Glen)

A beautiful afternoon on a very crowded golf course.  Since we had 5 players, we were sent off as a twosome and a threesome behind 2 Asian foursomes...who were playing from the Blue Tees.  We expected to wait behind foursomes but the waits kept getting longer and longer because of their slow play.  On the 8th tee, the Ranger allowed us to play as a fivesome....and we still waited on every shot!!!  Through it all, Doug Conway shot Net 69 to win by 2 shots over Dan Price.

September 19, 2015 (Green Knoll)

Ed Korleski rebounds from a bad Front 9 and shoots Net 67 for a two stroke victory.  Bob Babetski birdies #6 and now says that hole is EASY!  Dan Price cards a 13 on #5, a results of pumping 4 balls into the creek.  After his 3rd ball, he requested help with the math.  There were 3 Johnnys out of 20 players.

September 16, 2015 (Fox Hollow)

Mansour started out hot but couldn't hold on.  Reese played steady throughout and gets the one shot win.  Jim Rinaldi makes his second EAGLE of the week with driver, sand wedge on #8....we saw it drop.  Jim also hit the stick on the Par 3 2nd hole, but it bounced off the green...it missed going in by inches.

September 12, 2015 (Great Bear WS Championship)

What would World Series Day be without a some bad weather. It was rainy but fortunately not too cold. Motivated by his Partners Match, Dan Price shoots an impressive Net 67 with a Gross 38 on the front 9 to take a one shot win. Dan jumped right out of the gate with a chippy/birdie on #1 and sank a 25 foot birdie putt on #4. He ties the front with a Net 32, ties the Birdie pot with 2 and ties the GP3 with 16. Other highlights of the day Wally shoots a net 74, and Jim Rinaldi gets an Eagle on #6, driver, pitching wedge from about 105 yards.

Congratulations to Min Minutello for winning his record setting 6th World Series Championship. It was his record setting 22nd World Series Championship appearance. Congratulations and more to come from the Commissioner shortly.

In Partners Price/Rutigliano beat Ceglia Sr/Smith +14 and Fitzgerald/Ceglia Jr. beat Rolph/Petronchak +8. This will set up a Partners Final of Price/Rutigliano vs. Fitzgerald/Ceglia Jr.

September 11, 2015 (Great Bear)

Great weather today, probably the best since we've been come here. The course is in great shape. We were able to get the tee times moved up an hour and we finished with plenty of sun light left. Luke Wolters shoots by two strokes over Larry Thiry with a net 70 and continues his winning ways at Great Bear. It's his third win at Great Bear. The rest of the field didn't do much and not a sandie in the group. A good warm up round for World Series.

September 9, 2015 (Fox Hollow)

Ron Emma got back from his three week vacation and started out hot with 3 birdies on the front nine and held on for a two shot win over Mansour.  Jim Rinaldi had four greens.

September 5, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

On the hard running fairways at Spooky, Ed Korleski shoots net 66 for a 2 shot win over Tom Wrobel.  Mark Schuler was the big money winner for the day by winning the Front 9, Birdies, Sandys and Par 3 Gross.  John Rutigliano has TWO Net 1's on Par 3's helping him win the Net Par 3 pot.  Apparently the remaining holes weren't so kind.  In a very close Match, Korleski finishes Par - Birdie to defeat Babetski 2 Up.

September 2, 2015 (Heron Glen)

Heron Glen's fairways were running...and the greens were recovering from a recent aeration and were soft but a little slow and bumpy occasionally.  Mansour Rismanchi shot net 62 and nipped Doug Conway by 1 shot.  Doug had 4 birdies (3 on par 3's)...and 9 pieces of junk playing Nines against Mike Jeffries and Jim Petronchak.

August 31, 2015 (Knoll West)

Knoll West had aerated and wet greens so the DGA group had to adjust to how hard to hit chips and putts...and they did pretty well.  Doug Conway shot Net 65 to nip Tom Wrobel in his return to the DGA from rotator cuff surgery.  Tom started 8 - 6 but played great after that.

August 29, 2015 (Warrenbrook)

Another "top ten" day....but play bogged down with the Partners Match and rounds exceeded 5 hours for the last 5 groups....and scores were much higher than normal.  Dom Tucci was in one of the early groups and shot Net 65 for a 2 shot win over Rich Fitzgerald.  No one else broke Net 70.  In Partners, Jim Petronchak and Mike Rolph came from 7 points down after 4 holes to win +1 over The Bobbies.  Ed Korleski said that his group took 46 tee shots on the front 9...that is 10 Provisionals!  There were 2 Johnnys - Bob Nowark (31-42) and John Rutigliano (41-30).

August 26, 2015 (Fox Hollow)

A top ten day at Fox Hollow.  The greens had recently been aerated so the greens were receptive but slower than usual.  Doug Conway did a Mike Rolph and stepped out of the car after a 7 hour drive and shot Net 31 on the front 9...but was overtaken by Mansour Rismanchi who shot Net 66 for a 2 shot win.  Thanks to Mansour for the round of drinks!  Frank Thiry had a birdie on #9 for a Net 0 !!!!!  In Match Play, Reese Evans nipped Greg Cavallo 2 Up in a tight back and forth match.

August 22, 2015 (Neshanic Valley-R/L)

Neshanic Valley wasn't busy at all, but the bumpy, aerated greens sure made for some interesting bounces on putts.  Dave Perry found his home course groove on the Lake 9 and cruised to a 3-shot victory over Bob Nowark.  Jim Petronchak shoots 1 over par gross (ho-hum) with 3 birdies and 4 bogeys to win 2nd place money.

By the way, everyone appreciated the round that Mansour covered....no sarcasm.

August 19, 2015 (Fox Hollow)

Jim Petronchak wins by 3 over a short field.  Reese Evans continues his dominance over the par 3's at Fox Hollow.  The group managed to avoid the thunderstorms all around the course and finished in 4 hours.

August 15, 2015 (Quail Brook)

On a hot, humid day, Schuler and Rismanchi tie for 1st place with Net 66's.  Mark buys a round (Thanks, Mark).  Mansour continues to endear himself to the DGA (Thanks, Shane).  Rapp comes out of hibernation with a net 67 and Petronchak shoots an even par Gross 72.  In the Partners Matches, Fitz & Ceglia Jr crush Rinaldi & Jeffries +10 while Price & Rutigliano avenge a first round loss to Cavallo & Korleski by defeating them +6.

August 13, 2015 (Beacon Hill)

Larry Thiry hosted the group at his club.  Beautiful day...clear view of NYC skyline, tough course.  Larry made use of his home course knowledge to edge Mike Rolph by 2 strokes.  Ever the gracious host - cocktails on the deck and barbeque at home.  Thanks to Larry for a great day.

August 12, 2015 (Neshanic Valley)

Ron Emma and Dave Perry share the lead - dividing the WS Points which they both need.  Despite good course conditions the scores were pretty high.  Darkness was setting in as the last group finished 18.  Dave has 38 reasons why Fitz should not drive the cart - just ask him...I'm sure he will be happy to enumerate.

August 8, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

Jim Petronchak shoots 2 under par gross for a 1 shot win over Dennis Grote and Jim gets into World Series for the 3rd time.  Both Dennis and Jim had 4 Birdies.  Frank Thiry's Par 3 Net Scores were 2-1-3-1 for seven total.  Dave Perry hits 5 iron from 185 yards to inside 2 feet on #1...he yipped the putt but it still went in for EAGLE!  Bob Babetski wins the World Series Aggregate.  Sara says Dave is a nice guy.  Net 69 is the beer line!  Net par is a big loser.  Ceglia Sr & Smith advance beating Frank Thiry-DGA and Wally Heda.

August 5, 2015 (Fox Hollow)

Dave Perry starts bogey, bogey, bogey then par for 9 holes and "held on" at the end for a 7 stroke victory.  Cavallo wins his match vs Rolph 4 & 3.  Rolph almost makes 1 on #9...ball lands a fet feet past the hole, spins back and goes in and out of the cup.  He made the putt.  Ron Emma had a good Johnny if there is such a thing.

August 1, 2015 (Green Knoll)

A Polish 1-2 finish on a beautiful golf weather day.  Ed Korleski shoots net 63 for a 2 shot victory over Bob Babetski.  In Match Play, Babetski was 5 up after 8 holes and never looked back defeating Ceglia Jr 4 & 2.  In the other Match, Korleski defeats Emma 2 & 1.   Mark Schuler double hits a tricky 4 ft downhill putt on #9....now that is accelerating through the putt.

July 30, 2015 (Dunegrass - Maine)

The final day of the 2nd Annual Up Yours North Tournament was hot again....Frank Thiry wants to know why it isn't cooler.  Min Minutello shoots his age....AGAIN...for a 4 shot win with Net 68.  Frank had 2 birdies and 4 Net Eagles.  Doug Conway survived a triple bogey 8 on the last hole to nip Min by 1 shot in the 3 day tournament.  Rich Fitzgerald whiffed again...this time left handed.

July 29, 2015 (Heron Glen - Blues)

Jim Rinaldi continues to play as hot as the weather running away with a 6 shot victory.  Welcome back to the single digit handicap - not that it matters the way he is playing.  Dave Perry takes 1/2 hour toplay the first hole then makes EAGLE on the 11th hole with a 10 foot putt from just off the green.  Blue tees played long but no problem for Mr. Perry.

July 29, 2015 (Nonesuch River - Maine)

A very HOT day with temps in the 90's.  Doug Conway nipped Min Minutello by 1 shot with a Net 69.  Min shot his age...AGAIN.  Frank Thiry had a Super Johnny (32-47).

July 28, 2015 (Rochester Country Club - New Hampshire)

A beautiful but hot day in New Hampshire.  Doug Conway won by 2 shots over Rich Fitzgerald.  2 "highlights/lowlights"...Frank Thiry breaking his driver in 2 pieces on his very 1st tee shot...and Rich Fitzgerald whiffing on the Pro Shop simulator.

July 27, 2015 (Apple Hill - New Hampshire)

The start of the 2nd Annual Up Yours North trip began at Apple Hill....sunny for the most part with a short shower in the middle of the round.  Min Minutello shot better than his age with a gross 79, net 64 to win by 2 shots over Doug Conway.  Luke Wolters made an EAGLE on the 465 yard 10th hole hitting 4 Hybrid, 4 Hybrid and made a 4 foot putt.  Rich Fitzgerald didn't have a net birdie on the first 5 holes or the last 4 holes....but had 10 net birdies on the nine holes in between.

July 25, 2015 (Warrenbrook)

A sunny , warm day at Warrenbrook. Emerging from the last group was Larry Thiry. He had a best Net 30 on the front and combined with a Net 34 on the back was enough for a one shot victory. John Rutigliano although finishing second was the money winner by a narrow margin. He had 15 Net Birdies, 6 Net Eagles (one off the record set by him and John Perry) and a Net 6 on Par 3's. The other big winner was Jim Rinaldi taking the Birdies pot with 4 and a Gross 11 on Par 3's. There were 8 players sharing the Greenies Pot and Ron Ceglia Jr steals the Sandy Pot with 1.

July 18, 2015 (Neshanic Valley)

After a 1 hour thunderstorm delay, we finally got on the course.  Bob Nowark shoots a Net 66 for a 1 shot win over Ed Korleski.  Dave Perry (after 6 cans of Swing Oil) has a Super Johnny with a Net 29 on the back nine and ends up big money winner (Note:  He didn't buy a round).  In Partners, The Bobbies crush Petronchak/Rolph +9.  In Match Play, Reese Evans defeats Mansour Rismanchi 4 & 3.

July 16, 2015 (Heron Glen)

Mike Jeffries shoots a steady Net 68 for a 4 shot win.  Ron Emma defeats Wally Heda 4 & 2 in Match Play.  Course was crowded and play was slow.  Min showed his displeasure by hitting upon the first group twice.

July 14, 2015 (Knoll West)

A mostly cloudy day for the Doiley Open at Knoll West...with a couple of occasional sprinkles.  Ed Korleski dominated with a Net 63...and Longest Drive (300 yards on #1) and Closest to the Pin (12 feet 9 inches on #17).  Ron Emma got stuck in Paris so Partners Match did not happen.

July 11, 2015 (Quail Brook)

A lot of low scores for World Series.  Jim Rinaldi shoots even par Gross for Net 60 and a 1 shot victory over Frank Thiry.  Jim Petronchak finishes on the Beer Line but is the 2nd highest Money Winner!  Eight guys had 3 Net Eagles!  A lot of guys are paying money yet their handicaps could be going down.  Ed Korleski almost ACES #11 with a beautifully played skull shot into a tree that lands one foot from the cup.  The Golf Gods got even by snapping the head off of his 5 iron on the next tee.  Shawn Smith had a good Johnny and Dave Perry STILL has new shoes.

July 8, 2015 (Neshanic Valley)

The group managed to avoid the predicted thunderstorms - just an infrequent light drizzle and we had the course to ourselves.  The 3 groups were spread out over the back 9 with the lead on 18 green followed by the 16th tee and bringing up the rear the final 4 on 13 tee.  Jim Rinaldi, after recently threatening to give up the game, rolled to his 3rd victory in a row.  He is loving life and his 12 handicap.

July 4, 2015 (Warrenbrook)

Sixteen guys showed up to play golf on the Fourth of July.  We tossed 16 balls on the 1st tee to determine groups (just kidding, Doug!).  Jim Rinaldi shoots Net 64 for a 1 shot win over Dan Price.  In Match Play, Ed Korleski defeats David Ellis 4 & 2.  Jim Petronchak has a senior moment when he picks up both his ball and marker while on the green.  "That's a stroke, Baby!".

July 2, 2015 (Fox Hollow)

A cloudy, dreary day in the 80's at Fox Hollow. The course was in great shape and the rough once again was a challenge. Everyone was over par and the best of the group were Ron Ceglia Sr and Jim Rinaldi who tied with a net 72. Ron Ceglia had 3 birdies, all on par 3's, two of them chippies and won both the gross and net par 3's. Jim had 3 greenies.

June 27, 2015 (Quail Brook)

We were able to get the round in before the heavy rain hit.  Cavallo and Rismanchi tie for 1st with Net 65's but Cavallo was the big money winner.  In Match Play, Cavallo defeats Schuler 5 & 3 and Rolph defeats Rutigliano 3 & 2.

June 24, 2015 (Neshanic Valley)

A rested Mike Rolph shot a gross 79 for Net 64 to win by 4 shots over Min "I shot my age again, ho hum" Minutello.  In Match Play, Reese Evans nipped Jim Rinaldi 1 Up.  Mansour had a Johnny 31-42.  Jim Petronchak just missed 2 eagles...and settled for 4 birdies.

June 23, 2015 (Quail Brook)

Mike Rolph drove 22 hours from Florida jus to arrive 15 minutes before the tee time...and unlike when Dave Perry arrives at the last second, Mike didn't win.  The other "out-of-stater" Doug Conway survived an 8 on the 3rd hole to romp by 8 shots over Jim Petronchak.  Doug shot under his age....NET.

June 20, 2015 (Green Knoll)

So many stories!  It was a misty, cloudy day with a couple of light showers early in the round....but the bad weather held off.  Greg Cavallo shoots Net 65 to nip Mike Jeffries by 1 shot.  Jim Petronchak ties the DGA Record with 5 Birdies.  The F. Thiry, Heda, Fitzgerald, Ceglia Jr opens a new DGA Record Category with 11 Net Eagles in the group!  In Match Play, Bob Babetski vanquishes his partner, Bob Nowark, 6 & 5.  In Partners, Ron Ceglia Jr & Rich Fitzgerald win the 18th hole to win the match +1....Mike Jeffries and Jim Rinaldi hold off Doug Conway and Larry Thiry +2...and Greg Cavallo & Ed Korleski win 6 holes (12 Points) in a row to win +12 over Dave Perry and Joe Musella.  Oddities include Johnnys by Dom Tucci (41-31) and Ron Ceglia Jr (44-34)...and two identical Super Johnnys (51-34) by Bob Nowark and Wally Heda.  Frank Thiry-DGA had a Net 0 when he birdied the 3rd hole getting 2 shots.

June 17, 2015 (Fox Hollow)

Reese Evans wins by 5 shots over Ron Ceglia Sr at Fox Hollow...and for the 2nd time in a month, ties the DGA Record with 5 Greenies.

June 13, 2015 (Warrenbrook)

Larry Thiry wins World Series #2 with a net 63.  When asked what part of his game was working, the reply was "my Handicap".  Minutello AGAIN shoots under his age and ties for 2nd with Babo.  In Match Play, Evans defeats Perry 3 & 2.

June 11, 2015 (Green Knoll)

Last minute singles match between Mark Schuler and Shawn Smith.  Schuler prevails 7 & 5 after building a 5 up lead on the front nine.  Mike Jeffries comes alive on the back nine with a 32 and a good Johnny.  Three of the five total birdies were made inside 1 foot.

June 10, 2015 (Neshanic Valley)

Finally a sunny AND hot day!  Dave Perry goes out in net 29 (seven good holes!) but stumbles home with a SuperJohnny for 4th place.  Ron Emma had a 5 shot win.

June 6, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

A cloudy day with greens were a little hairy!  Scores were high until the last few groups came in and then BANG!  Ron Ceglia shoots net 59 to win by 2 shots over Ron Ceglia Sr who shoots net 61 gross 73.  Joe Musella shoots net 62 gross 75 (his partner will be happy with that).  Minutello shoots net 64 gross 81 (shot his age again).  There are talks about Minproofing the courses by moving the tees back.  In Match Play, Babetski over Rapp 5 & 4, Ellis over Fitzgerald 3 & 1, Ceglia Jr over Minutello 2 & 1 and Rismanchi over Grote 1 Up.  Rapp had a Johnny (35-45).

June 3, 2015 (Fox Hollow)

Dave Perry arrives last minute from work, heads straight for the 1st tee, makes triple, finds 4 balls, makes a quad on #3 and then is off and running to a 4 shot victory and the first World Series Points on a Wednesday.  Ron Emma provides an assist to his partner, Dave, with a bag of cold beer.

May 30, 2015 (Neshanic Valley - Ridge/Lake)

A partly sunny and nice day.  The course was in great shape.  However, only 1 person was able to break net 70.  Dave Perry, on his home course, wins with a net 66.  The home crowd was not able to pull out the team of Perry & Musella though as they lost in Partners to Price & Rutigliano -1.  In Match Play, Dennis Grote beat Frank Thiry 2 & 1 and John Rutigliano defeated Joe Musella 4 & 2.  Johnnys recorded by Mansour Rismanchi (38-49) and Jay Griffith (50-39).

May 27, 2015 (Heron Glen - Blue Tees)

Four players dodged the rain drops and finally played the blues at Heron Glen.  Reese Evans played steadily despite some putting issues to earn a 3 shot win.  Reese had 5 greens and made it look easy on the par 3's.

May 25, 2015 (Green Knoll)

Hot and humid.  Ron Ceglia Sr was talked into playing...and won easily...a crushing, comfortable 10 shot win.

May 24, 2015 (Fox Hollow)

Three guys played Fox Hollow in beautiful weather.  Ron Emma walked away with almost everything and ended the round with a chip in birdie from the 7 inch rough long and left of 18.  Mike Jeffries started the day with a chip in birdie on 1 and that was pretty much it.  John R. had a tremendous sandy on 4.  His bunker shot was hit with just the right amount of cut spin and it settled 5 feet from the pin from a tough lie in the left greenside bunker.

May 23, 2015 (Warrenbrook)

Very cold, no shorts day.  Bob Nowark wins with a net 64 and wins by 1 shot over Ron Ceglia Jr.  In Partners, Babetski & Nowark win +6 over Grote & Rapp.  Schuler & Ellis win +4 over Minutello & Wolters.  In Match Play, Ron Emma beats Ron Ceglia Sr 2 & 1.

May 21, 2015 (Farmstead)

Despite 3 putting 5 very shaggy and slow greens, Doug Conway shot net 68 and a 3 shot win over Min Minutello.  John DeSimone had a "Dave Perry Cart Moment" when he tried to drive between and under huge evergreens...a huge branch wouldn't give and impaled the cart and almost impaled John.

May 20, 2015 (Fox Hollow)

It was cooler and breezier than expected at Fox Hollow.  Plus the rough was brutal and swallowed up golf balls that were only a foot off the fairway or green.  Doug Conway played steadily and won both 9s and overall over Greg Cavallo.  Jim Petronchak had a "straight" on the 6 par 3s...3,4,4,5,6,7.

May 16, 2015 (Quail Brook)

It was sunny when we teed off...then we got heavy showers for the first few holes.  Mark Schuler called the clubhouse and asked them to drive out with an umbrella for him...NOT!  The rain stopped for the remainder of the round.  Frank Thiry-DGA shot Net 63 to beat David Ellis by 2 shots.  Davis had 3 birdies including 2 chipped/pitched from off the green.  In Partners, Frank and Wally came from -3 with 4 holes to play to defeat Mansour and Dom +3.  Also, we had an 8 way tie for 2nd on the back 9.

May 13, 2015 (Neshanic Valley)

Windy and cold day,  Jim Rinaldi shoots 2 over par on the front and holds on to beat Min by one shot.  Finally someone holds off Min!  Mike Jeffries has 3 Greenies but still loses 4 balls and has 4 equities.  Newcomer Jay just misses an eagle on #4 Meadow but then misses a 4 inch putt for birdie...thanks, Dan Price!

May 9, 2015 (Green Knoll)

Bob Nowark shoots a Net 64 for a 2 shot victory over Minutello.  Another crazy day on the course.  Fitz gets a net ZERO with a birdie on the 3rd hole.  Petronchak gets up and down from the Korleski bridge for PAR.  Heda whiffs a tee shot by sweeping the tee out from under the ball.  Jeffries has a SuperJohnny.

May 6, 2015 (Heron Glen)

Nice day, brief showers, another small field.  Course was playing a bit short.  Greg Cavallo defeats Mike Jeffries 6 & 5 to advance in Match Play.  Min finally loses by still cashes.

May 2, 2015 (Green Knoll)

The Minutello train keeps rolling....Min shoots Net 68 for a 1 shot victory over Ceglia Sr.  In Partners, Ceglia Sr/Smith defeated Schuler/Ellis +7.  Very odd day....Smith has 8 Net Birds yet shoots Net 78.  Jim Rinaldi ties the DGA record of 5 Birdies...and shoots Net 80.  There were 2 Whiffs (Names provided upon request).  Musella and Rismanchi have Johnnys.

April 29, 2015 (Fox Hollow)

If Min was born earlier in the year, he would have shot his age again.  He ripped up the front with a net 26, cooled off on the back, but still shoots a net 63 for a 4 stroke win over Jimmy P.  In Partners Match Play, the RE Boys had an easy go of it with Jeffries/Rinaldi for a +10 (with +4 left) victory, +13 overall.

April 25, 2015 (Warrenbrook)

Bob Nowark comes out of hibernation and cruises to a 5 shot victory over Shawn Smith with a Net 67.  In Match Play, Nowark crushes Thiry, L. 5 & 4 and Rinaldi defeats Petronchak 3 & 1.

April 23, 2015 (Neshanic Valley - Ridge/Meadow)

Min "Money" Minutello does it yet again although the wind threatened to blow him over at times.  Not enough clothes to offset the windchill - despite the talk about a group DNF, we finished before hypothermia set in.

April 18, 2015 (Quail Brook)

Min continues his winning ways and shoots Net 62 for a 3 shot victory over Dennis Grote.  There are rumblings about a proposal where Min has to play from the BACK TEES so THE FIELD can be competitive.  Dave Perry nearly whiffs a putt, I say nearly because Schuler said the ball "ovulated" as Dave's putter hit the green and bounced over the ball.

April 15, 2015 (Fox Hollow)

Min beats his age again.  Price challenges Min and runs into a freight train as Min beats him straight up while getting 12 shots.  Course was in good condition and we played in 4 hours or less.  Great weather day as well considering the weather lately.

April 13, 2015 (Quail Brook)

First really nice day in a while.  Each player had at least 1 big number and Ron would have run away with everything if he had made a few putts.

April 11, 2015 (Neshanic Valley)

Another windy Saturday made for tough scoring in the 2 man better ball.  The teams of Grote & Minutello and the Thirys tie for 1st with Net 65.

April 4, 2015 (Spooky Brook - Opening Saturday 2015)

The first official Saturday round of the year brought warmer temperatures but a steady 20mph wind and gusts that probably were 40-50mph.  There were some challenging times standing over putts and tee shots, but it didn't effect Mark Schuler.  Mark won by 5 shots and was the only one to shoot under net par.

Dennis Grote and Fitz had bad Johnnies.  Fitz had an adventure on #17....his score almost matched the hole #.

In the first partners match of the year, new partners Ron Ceglia Sr. and Shawn Smith came back to beat Min Minutello and Luke Wolters +4.  Ron and Shawn were down 6 at the turn.

Congrats to Gary Yusko for finally starting his qualifying rounds.

March 8, 2015 (Heather Glen - Red/White - Little River, SC)

We got a beautiful sendoff at Heather Glen (Red/White).  Sunny and 60's.  Mike Rolph nipped Doug Conway by 1 shot with a net 74.  In Commissioner's Cup, the Juniors romped over the Seniors 11-3.

March 7, 2015 (River Hills - Little River, SC)

Even though it was in the 30's when we teed off, the sun was warm and as the day progressed, it became more comfortable.  Jim Rinaldi nipped Mike Rolph and Ron Emma by 1 shot.  Ron Emma on the 2 day Mini-Myrtle Tournament by 7 shots.

March 6, 2015 (Thistle - Stewart/Mackay - Calabash, NC)

A cloudy and cold (40) day on a very tough course.  2 DGA broke net 80 led by Ron Emma with net 73.  Wally Heda had a Johnny (62-51).

March 5, 2015 (Crow Creek - Calabash, NC)

The day started off beautiful with sun and 70 degrees.  The winds kicked up during the round with gusts up to 30 mph.  Then with 3 holes to play, the cold front moved in with a vengeance.  Skies got dark, rain started and the temperature dropped 25 degrees in less than 10 minutes.  Through all that, Mike Rolph shot a net 71 for a 4 shot win over....get ready...Wally Heda and Jim Rinaldi...and The Chief finished with a 10 on the 18th hole.

March 4, 2015 (Barefoot Resort - Norman Course - Myrtle Beach, SC)

We only got through 15 holes before sunset so the results are based on the front 9.

February 12, 2015 (The Landings - Ft. Myers, FL)

On a sunny and breezy afternoon, three DGA played The Landings Executive Course.  14 Par 3's from 95 to 200 yards.  We thought we would break the DGA record of 5 Greenies...NOT!  All of us scrambled but Min Minutello and his short game triumphed.

February 9, 2015 (Cypress Woods - Naples, FL)

Three DGA'ers played in southwest FL.  Greg Cavallo's day was a little better than the other two.

January 23, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

It was sunny with temps ranging from the 20s at the start to close to 40 at the end.  The course was FROZEN...lots of run on the fairways, greens that didn't hold shots even some that hit short of the green and the flagsticks were frozen in the holes filled with ice.  Mark Schuler played the steadiest and won with a net 76.  Doug Conway had 2 birdies...and five three putt greens.  Jim Petronchak hit driver, 5 iron to reach the 1st green...and 2 putt for birdie...and his only net birdie of the day.

January 13, 2015 (Stoneybrook - Sarasota, Florida)

On a very pleasant mid-80s partly cloudy day, Mike Rolph wins with a net 76 at fluid (water, water everywhere) Stoneybrook Golf Club.  Once again, Mike didn't win any of the standard 5 pots but did win both par 3 pots.  For Mike, on his home course, it was like taking candy from babies.  Larry Thiry had the year's first Johnny (46-35).

January 12, 2015 (Forest Glen - Naples, Florida)

On a cloudy, humid day with temps in the mid-80s, Mike Rolph defeats both Thiry boys, winning by 9 shots over Larry.  Mike won both front and back 9s but did not win pots except for a tie with Larry for Gross Par 3.  Frank Thiry-DGA stumbles dramatically from first to worst in one day winning by 9 shots yesterday and losing by 13 shots today.  Larry manages to win $8 in Nines.

January 11, 2015 (Royal Palm - Naples, Florida)

On a mostly sunny day with temps in the low 80s, Frank Thiry-DGA wins by 9 shots with a Net 69.  Remarkably, none of the players had any equities with no scores over 7 on a course with numerous OBs and plenty of water.

January 3, 2015 (Spooky Brook)

Cold, no wind and frozen fairways and greens.  Group decided to play stroke play instead of Stableford.  Rich Fitzgerald welcomed no negative points as he won easily by 2 shots over Mister 2nd Place Dave Perry.
