October

October 5, 2017 (New Jersey National)

Three guys played NJ National as a last tune up before the trip south. Ron Emma starts hot and holds on for a 7 shot win.

October 7, 2017 (Warrenbrook)

5 DGAer's played Warren brook on a beautiful Fall day, scores were pretty even.  Fast, hard but true greens, nothing stayed on when trying to chip close.  Andrew is still fighting those demons and trying to shake those double digit scores, hang in there son, it'll all come together some day.

October 8, 2017 (Innisbrook - Island) Better Ball

A hot and humid day…and the Bermuda rough ate up a lot of shots.  Ron Ceglia Sr partnered with 2 B Men (Bob Nowark and Luke Wolters to finish 1st and 2nd….and he will admit that he rode their coattails.

October 8, 2017 (Innisbrook - Island)

The afternoon round consisted of all the late arrivers to Innisbrook except Dave Perry.  Dave's morning round on the Island course was a good warm up for the afternoon round and he won by 2 strokes with a net 76.  Dave was in just about every pot except Sandies and Net Par 3's.  Mike Jeffries was the only other player to finish in the net 70's.  Bruce Rapp was in both the Net and Gross Par 3's.

October 9, 2017 (Innisbrook - Copperhead)

Day 1 of the tournement at Copperhead.  Plenty of nerves and extra swings.  Mike Jeffries put together a solid round and won Day 1 with a net 67 finishing 1 stroke ahead of Luke Wolters who finished with a net 68.  Mike had a net 31 on the front and Luke had a net 31 on the back.  Ed Korleski who finished 3 with a net 70 shot an impressive net 30 on the back.
Par 3's seemed to be the secret to the success of the top three finishers.  All top three players had a part of the Par 3 Pots.  Ed and Jim Petronchak had three Greenies, Mark Schuler had 2 Birdies, Greg Cavallo had 2 Net Eagles and Ron Emma and Bob Babetski had 2 Sandys.
Day 2 will be at the Island course.  See you tomorrow.

October 10, 2017 (Innisbrook - Island)

Day 2 of the Tournament and Mike Jeffries continues to lead the field.  He once again comes in first and is the tournament leader.  He finished with a net 70 which was 3 strokes better than Mark Schuler.  Mike shot net 36 on the front and net 34 on the back. Mark Schuler and Ed Korleski won the front with Net 35 and Dave Perry won the back with a net 33.  Ron Emma wins the Birdie pot with 2 and a rare Net Eagle win with 2.
John Rutigliano made Fall trip news.  On the 18th hole he put 5 in the water and finished with an 18.  He did 2 putt the very difficult 18th green.

October 11, 2017 (Innisbrook - South)

Hot and humid day at Inisbrook.  Seven players shoot in the low 70's on a forgiving South Course that was not in the best of shape.  Ron Ceglia, Jr. and Ed Korleski tie for 1st with 70's. The Fall Tourney Day 2 leaders of Jeffries, Korleski and Wolters shoot 71, 70, 72 respectively.

October 12, 2017 (Innisbrook - Copperhead)

Couldn't ask for a better golf day in Florida, mid 80's, low humidity, all sun, slight breeze. Ed Korleski wins by one over Junior on the final day of the 2017 Tourney.   Mike Jeffries hold's off Ed on the back nine to go wire to wire and win the championship by 3 strokes ---- CONGRATS to Mike....

October 13, 2017 (Innisbrook - North) Ryder Cup

The North defeated the South 9 - 5.

October 14, 2017 (Innisbrook - Copperhead) Pinehurst Format

Getaway day from Innisbrook.  We played a Pinehurst Format where each person on a 2 man tean hits their drive, then hits their partner's ball, selects the best after 2 shots and play alternate shot from there.  We had a twosome and two foursomes.  After 5 holes of very slow play due to groups in front of us, the ranger said it would be ok if our twosome (Grote/Nowark) joined our 1st foursome (Conway/Cavallo and Schuler/Thiry) and played as a SIXSOME to limit the waiting time.  We stayed right on the heels of the slow groups and at the turn that ranger said we were doing a "GREAT JOB"!  I know that most of you won't believe it but it is true!  In the event, the Conway/Cavallo team got very hot on the back 9 with a net 29 and a 7 shot win.  Greg hit an incredible 60 yard bunker shot on #11 that hit the green, took 1 hop and stopped 3 feet from the hole.  Doug made the putt for their 2nd Sandy.

October 14, 2017 (Quail Brook)

Another small turnout with only 4 DGAers in Jersey (where are all the other guys who didn't go to Tampa?).  The day started out with a little mist but eventually cleared and hit the 70's.  Greens were aerated last week but were pretty true…there were some monster putts made.

October 21, 2017 (New Jersey National)

4 Guys with stuff to do in the AM squeezed in a round later in the day. Jim Rinaldi plays steady to win by 3 shots on a course with super fast greens and tough pins.

October 21, 2017 (Spooky Brook)

A perfect golf weather day and Spooky Brook was in great shape all around.  As usual at Spooky Brook, the Beer Line was below Par.  Smoot wins with 58.  In Match Play, Babetski defeats Wrobel 5 & 3.  Also as usual, once the Match was over (as per Chapter #2 of his Sandbagging Made Easy book), Babo shoots NINE OVER Par on the last three holes to ensure a "96 or higher".

October 26, 2017 (New Jersey National)

Ron Emma starts out hot and wins by 5 over Mike Jeffries on a day when the wind picked up considerably on the back nine of this morning round.

October 28, 2017 (Green Knoll)

Mr. Minutello defies his age yet again and the cold(he wore shorts despite starting temps in the high 30's) to win by 2 shots. Quatto makes another strong appearance to finish in a 3 way tie for second.  Recently aerated greens made for some interesting chipping and putting, which apparently did not bother our winner. Under the heading of same old, same old -the Bobbies won yet another partners tournament, adding to their dynasty. Congratulations guys!
