2018

April 3, 2018 (Savannah Lakes - Georgia)

Jim Rinaldi "Masters" a very challenging course on a perfect day in SC. Undulating fairways, blind shots and plenty of water made for a challenging round for everyone but Jim. He did ricochet one shot off the rocks onto the green.

April 5, 2018 (Cliffs - Mountain Park - South Carolina)

Des hosts us at one of his many home courses on a beautiful spring day. Jim Rinaldi "Masters" another course that plays a lot harder than the slope of 125. The greens were much faster than Tuesday and the tightly mowed areas around the greens made for difficult chipping and quite a few approach shots that were rejected.

April 7, 2018 (Quail Brook)

Nine dedicated DGA-ers plus 1 prospective member faced winter like wind chill on opening day. Dan Price plays consistently and wins by a stroke. Course was in decent shape and the greens were fairly quick. Funny shot of the day - Dave Perry attempts to punch out from the  woods on 18 with a 6 iron- the ball went 2 feet (straight up) and stuck in a bare bush. Next shot with a baseball swing was a foul tip- got to have a sense of humor to survive this game. PM Charlie Conners played and hung in there at the bar- way to go Charlie.

April 14, 2018 (Neshanic Valley R/L)

It seems that the warm weather brought the golfers out to Neshanic.  18 members and 3 prospective members rounded out a good size field.  We didn't see 21 golfers last year until July.  Jay Griffith was in the first group and the early start was all he needed.  Jay shot a gross 75 and won the front, net 30 and the back, net 31 for a net 61 and finished 6 strokes ahead of the second place finisher Gary Yusko.  Jay and Ed Korleski had 2 birdies and Jay had 13 net birdies.  Gary Yusko finishing in second with net 67 had 3 net eagles and low on the net par 3's.  Also Jay recieves 18 World Series points in our new World Series point format.

Welcome Billy Bylina and Tom Onka to your first round in the DGA. Billy seems to have an eye for fashion so please make sure your hats match your outfit when he's around.  Good to see three new prospective members out there in the same round.

In Match Play Dave Perry defeated John Rutigliano 2 & 1.  In the other match our two time champion Bob Babetski was defeated on 18 when Mansour Rismanchi sunk a 20 foot putt for 8.  It was an exciting match that came down to the putt.

April 21, 2018 (Green Knoll)

Larry Thiry wins by 7 strokes over Mark Schuler who had to wait well over an hour for the last group to finish (guess who) to see if he won. Two groups played thru, a deer was struck, and much conversation was had about ball identification- all this is from 1 member of that group who also stated that it took them an hour to play that particular hole.

April 24, 2018 (Quail Brook)

Jim Rinaldi plays a fairly steady round despite some putting woes to win by 5 shots. Everyone had their share of troubles of one form or another. Played in 4 hours and happy to report ,no rules questions.

April 26, 2018 (Spooky Brook)

Getting another round in for our PM Tom Onka, who showed some of his usual form on the front nine. Schuler wins the DGA portion in a battle of who wants to play in the wind .

April 28, 2018 (Spooky Brook)

Big day for Matt Smoot.  He wins by 1 stroke while leading his team over JRut and Dan Price +3 in their partners match. Congratulations Matt on your win and Congratulations Jay and Matt on your partners match win !
