DGA a NJ Golf Club
A good turn out for opening day for the DGA. The course was in good shape and weather was cool but managable. Mansour Rismanchi started in the last group but finished up first with a Net 69 and a one stroke win over Reese Evans and both of them were the only two under net par. Mansour shot 32/37, won the front and tied for second in the back. Mansour also had 3 sandys with back to back sandys on 14 and 15.
Jim Rinaldi had 3 birdies and 3 greenies and finish first in gross par 3's with an 11. Jim Petronchak although finished in 7th had a rare win in net birdies and tied net eagles by getting birdies on both par 5's on the back and finished in the black. Bob Babetski and Shawn Smith tied with net 10 for net par 3's.
There were no Partner qualifying rounds played.
Our first ever World Series Qualifier in April at Spooky Brook went off without a hitch. Andrew Keller certainly rebounded from last week and finished first with a net 66 and now qualifies for World Series. Andrew won the front with a net 31 and finished second on the back with a net 35. He also won net Birdies with 13 and tied Rich Fitzgerald with 3 Net Eagles. Rich Fitzgerald won Par 3 Net with 5. Ed Korleski and Jim Rinadli won Birdies with 2. Ed also won Par 3 Gross with 12. Dave Perry finishes near the bottom but wins money with his 3 Greenies.
Plenty of other action today. There were three PQR's. Charlie Connors and Mansour Rismanchi shot net 66, Mike Jeffries and Jim Rinaldi shot net 63 and Billy "I'm Not a Trash Talker" Bylina and Andrew Keller shot net 61. Also there was a surprise on the 1st tee when Billy Bylina challenged Bob Babetski in Match Play. Billy won 2 Up.
Six guys showed up at Neshanic and waited for the rain to end. We Tee'd off at 8:40, played Ridge/Meadow and only had a little drizzle on the 18th Hole. Course drained well and was in good shape, no casual water anywhere! The Greens were a bit slow and bumpy from the aeration on 4/1. Connors shoots 71 for a 2 stroke win over Korleski. As usual, #5 Ridge bit most of the golfers with scores of 5,7, 8,8,10 &15.
Bylina takes just about everything, not sure why he missed greenies. Course was soggy and fairways and greens were shaggy but it beat waiting at Neshanic for the rain to stop.
Mike Jeffries birdies 2 of the first 3 holes and wins by 2 over Reese Evans. Reese scorched the back in 30 and birdied 17 and 18. The course was wet from the heavy rain on Friday and the winds were gusting all day. Mike Jeffries defeats Bob Nowark 4 and 3 in individual match play. 3 teams played their partner qualifying rounds - Evans and Fitz shot a blistering 61. Bylina and Keller 68 and Perry and Schuler 72.
John R does a great job at putting out the tee sheet and it is also available on the website. 2 players had the wrong handicap on their cards. It would be appreciated if you can check your handicap before play begins and each group should submit a gross and net card.
